No More Technology Before Bed

What would you do to get a good night’s sleep? Easy tips for a good night’s sleep. The question is, will you do it?

1.  Do not watch t.v., use a computer or cell for at least 2 hours before going to sleep. You may find it difficult to sleep after watching a murder mystery or Sci Fi movie. This means, get off the laptop and cell. 

2.  Do not take your cell phone to bed with you. Place it in another room. 

Did you know apps and content — especially social media — carried on phones are purposely designed to be habit-forming. Tristan Harris, a former Google product manager, states he “compares smartphones to “slot machines” because, he says, “Every time I check my phone, I’m playing the slot machine to see, ‘What did I get?’” He is referring to “likes” on Facebook and Instagram, cute emojis in text messages and more followers on Twitter — powerful reinforcement for staying on your phone. It’s a flood of gratifying information that keeps coming via the so-easy-to-use scrolling method on digital devices — another way to keep us engaged.
